FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What hours are you available?

We are available during normal business hours, which are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Except during tax season, we are unavailable during the lunch hour from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. We would be happy to make special arrangements for evening or weekend consultations to meet a client's specific needs.

What happens if I receive an IRS Audit Notice?

As our client, if you receive a notice that the IRS is auditing your return, the accountant who prepared your return will be glad to personally review your tax return with you.  We will provide initial IRS audit consulting at no charge to you.  If further consultation is needed, your invoice amount will be based on our regular fees.

How much and what kind of information do you need for my return?

We have taken materials in almost every imaginable form, but the better organized the information, the less time will be spent.  We have provided a comprehensive list of what to bring to your appointment (or what to drop off if you have not scheduled an appointment).

How much do you charge for tax preparation?

Our standard billing procedure is to bill monthly or annually as in the case of tax preparation.  Payment is due upon receipt.  Standard form of payment is cash and check. We do not have a set fee.  Many factors are taken into consideration when preparing your return and arriving at the final cost of preparation.  It depends on how much time is spent organizing/summarizing your documents, how many forms and schedules will need filed with the return, if any research and/or phone calls are needed, and if there are any other special circumstances relating to your tax returns.

Will you e-file my local return for me?

At the present time, we do not have the authority/authorization to e-file local returns to the county tax collectors.  As in the past, these returns will have to be mailed by the taxpayer or filed online personally by the taxpayer.

Do I need to call for an appointment for tax preparation?

You do not need an appointment for tax preparation; instead, you can choose to drop off your information.  When you drop off, you will not meet with an accountant at that time.  The accountants will likely call with questions when they are preparing the return.  If you would like to set up an appointment for a tax consultation, please call our office at 814.472.5345 or you may e-mail to info@lmccpas.com as well to request an appointment time.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Generally, during tax season, we do not accept walk-ins due to time constraints.  We have a daily schedule filled with client meetings and directing our attention to preparing returns when not in appointments.

How can I check on the status of my Federal and PA tax refunds?  Is there a way to also check on my PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate?

We have provided a link for you to check on the status of these refunds.  Please go to our Resources page, make sure you have the requested information handy and click the appropriate link.
